About Rachel

Whether walking on the wings of airplanes, surfing tropical breaks, or guiding students on the yoga mat, Rachel’s life has been defined by a passion for adventure, entrepreneurship, and a deep dedication to mindfulness. Born in North Carolina and raised in western Virginia, she joined the Marine Corps as a photographer at age 17. Following a medical retirement, she spent years solo traveling the world before settling in Costa Rica in 2015. During her decade in the tropics, she successfully launched two businesses, taught herself Spanish and Portuguese, and learned to surf.
Flying for as long as she can remember, aviation has always been an intrinsic part of Rachel's life. She grew up volunteering on the ground crew at The Flying Circus Airshow, where she became enamored with antique aircraft and the daring spirit of the barnstorming era. That early fascination turned into a reality, and she has now been wing walking at the airshow for over a decade.
Parallel to her life in aviation, Rachel has spent over ten years studying and sharing the artful science of yoga and meditation. She completed her first teacher training in Asheville, North Carolina in 2014, later expanding her studies at Wild Mountain Yoga in California and completing her 500-hour advanced training in the Sacred Valley of Peru. Rachel shares these teachings as an intrinsic way of life, rather than just a physical practice. By guiding students through yoga philosophy, alignment, and breathing techniques, she inspires others to cultivate an enriched experience of life both on and off the mat.
Rachel currently holds a private pilot license and a tailwheel endorsement. In January 2026, her journey brought her to Logan, Utah, where she is currently completing her advanced ratings through Utah State University's Part 141 Professional Pilot degree program. Looking ahead, she aspires to start her own backcountry business and combine her skills as a bush pilot and aerial photographer. Through her journey, Rachel hopes to inspire others to pursue their dreams, serving as a living testament to the power of belief, faith, and devotion even in the face of adversity.
Today, Rachel shares her diverse expertise globally through online coaching and specialized yoga and meditation sessions designed to cultivate mindfulness and resilience. Her unique aerial and landscape photography is also available for purchase, offering a glimpse into the world from her perspective.
